Question 1

What is WindFree?

Accepted Answer

It's Samsung's name for cooling without a direct draft. The indoor unit disperses air through thousands of micro-holes instead of blowing it directly. You still get cooled — you just don't feel the wind.

Question 2

Is it worth the extra over the AR40?

Accepted Answer

If you're putting it in a bedroom or nursery, yes — the lack of direct draft makes a real comfort difference. For a study or kitchen, the AR40 is fine.

Question 3

How does SmartThings work?

Accepted Answer

Wi-Fi is built in. You pair the unit with the SmartThings app on your phone and you can control it from anywhere, set schedules, monitor energy use and get filter cleaning reminders.

Question 4

What does the 4-in-1 Care Filter do?

Accepted Answer

It's a multi-layer filter that captures dust, allergens, bacteria and some odours. The layers are washable — rinse and reuse. It's a step up from the basic HD Filter on the AR40 and AR3000.

Question 5

What does AI Technology actually do?

Accepted Answer

It learns the room's conditions over time — how long it takes to cool, when you usually switch it on, your preferred temperature — and adjusts the mode automatically. You can switch it off if you prefer manual control.

Question 6

Is it quiet enough for a nursery?

Accepted Answer

Yes — in WindFree mode the indoor unit runs around 23 dB, which is barely audible. That's the whole point of WindFree: gentle, even cooling without the noise of a fan blowing.
